Our Broad Global Active strategy is EMM's
core strategy. This strategy is designed for clients looking
to actively invest in emerging markets and to take full advantage
of the firm's country allocation model, as well as the analysis
and experience of our investment team.
In this strategy:
- Top-down country allocation is combined with bottom-up
stock selection to create an optimal target portfolio.
- Our quantitative country allocation model is used
as a navigational instrument to help determine country allocation.
Countries are over or underweighted relative to a client's
benchmark based on the quantitative output from the model
coupled with the qualitative "judgmental overlay"
of our Chief Investment Officer. The judgmental overlay
takes factors not easily modeled into account including
politics, structural policy changes, macro-economic imbalances
and interest rate momentum.
- Our team of portfolio managers and analysts select
stocks from the bottom-up to meet country targets. The stock
selection process is rigorous, systematic and value-oriented.
We conduct numerous company visits throughout the world
and utilize our proprietary database and earnings forecasts
to compare stocks. EMM's Investment Committee reviews and approves all stocks included in the Broad Global Active portfolios, generally prior to first purchase.
- Frontier markets and smaller stocks are included
in the investment universe in order to capitalize on market
inefficiencies.
- Portfolios are designed to outperform a requisite
benchmark while keeping within client guidelines.
